Platform & Marketplace

One open platform. Every vendor. Certified.

By separating protection software from the underlying hardware, VIRTEON makes substation protection & control more cost-efficient, far easier to configure and upgrade, and — for the first time — open to applications from multiple manufacturers.

Three complementary pillars

The open vPAC platform

An open protection-and-control environment where different suppliers deploy their applications on a common, standardized computing platform — with the redundancy, deterministic real-time behaviour and operational security critical infrastructure requires. It ships with the configuration software to engineer and maintain the system across its full lifecycle.

🛒

The multi-vendor marketplace

Utilities select applications across the full substation scope — protection, automation, SCADA and gateway, monitoring, cybersecurity — from different suppliers. For the first time a utility can combine best-of-breed applications from multiple manufacturers in one standardized environment.

🛡️

Supervision & lifecycle services

Recurring supervision and operational support — disturbance analysis, update preparation, coordination recommendations — always under explicit operator authorization and full cybersecurity compliance, with the operator retaining every decision.

Certification: what makes multi-vendor credible

A multi-vendor protection environment is only trustworthy if every application is proven safe within the platform. Before an application reaches the marketplace, VIRTEON validates it against a structured battery of standardized test cases and qualified fault scenarios, confirming correct and safe behaviour.

This certification capability is both a product feature and the foundation of VIRTEON's defensibility. It rests on a growing, curated qualification corpus — a library of certified fault recordings and test cases replayed on an automated, closed-loop bench. Building that bench, not collecting the recordings, is what takes years of protection and SEAPATH expertise, and it compounds with every certification and deployment.

A two-sided network effect

Each additional certified application makes the platform more useful to operators; each additional operator makes it more attractive to vendors. The marketplace becomes more valuable — and harder to displace — with every participant. And because VIRTEON is independent and vendor-neutral, competing manufacturers can all participate: something no OEM-owned platform can offer.
